MOCKSVILLE — After building a new facility in Mocksville 10 years ago, Ventlab Corp. has packed up and moved to Michigan.
The lab’s last day in operation at 155 Boyce Drive is today. The Mocksville facility had about 50 employees, according to Terry Bralley, president of the Davie County Economic Development Commission.
Grand Rapids-based Dempsey Ventures bought Ventlab in March 2013. Ventlab manufactures and supplies a line of devices for respiratory, critical care and EMS applications through a national network of distributors. Core products include resuscitation and hyperinflation bags, anesthesia masks and oxygen delivery products.
Ventlab officials in Mocksville declined to comment.
The company leaves behind a 48,000-square-foot facility, which it built to accommodate an expansion of operations and meet a growing demand for its products, according to the Ventlab website.
Bralley said he does not think the building will stand vacant for long.
“We have already shown the building to a couple of potential companies,” he said. “It is an excellent facility at a great location.”
According to the website, Ventlab designs and manufactures medical devices used in anesthesia, respiratory care, critical care and emergency medical services. The company can take products from initial concept through design and engineering to manufacturing and marketing.
Ventlab was Dempsey Ventures’ second investment in the area of anesthesia and respiratory products. It also purchased SunMed, a global supplier of airway management products, about five years ago.
