Salisbury Police are looking for two gun-wielding men who bound two female store clerks with duct tape Wednesday and robbed a Dollar General store near the Salisbury Mall.
The robbery occurred around 1:40 p.m. at the Dollar General at 2141 Statesville Blvd.
Witnesses told police that two men approached one of the clerks when she went to the rear of the store.
One of the men was armed with a black, semi-automatic handgun, police said.
The men forced the clerk at the rear of the store into a stock room, where they bound her hands and mouth with duct tape and ordered her to lie face down on the floor.
The two men then confronted the clerk at the front of the store and forced her into an office, where she was bound and forced to lie on the floor.
The men then took money from the store safe.
The robbers fled on foot and were last seen running toward a wooded area south of the store.
A customer came into the store and discovered the clerks. The customer helped the women get free and called authorities.
A N.C. State Highway Patrol helicopter responded to the area, along with a Salisbury Police K-9 unit.
Witnesses described both suspects as black males in their 20s wearing black clothing.Police were still investigating the robbery Wednesday evening.
