UNC Phi Beta Kappa
Suzanne Virginia Saleeby of Salisbury is one of 128 students recently inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most honored of all college honorary societies, at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Saleeby is a 2007 graduate who majored in Arabic and Spanish. She is the daughter of James Jeffrey Saleeby of Salisbury and Dorothy Houck Saleeby of Poute Vedra, Fla.
Also inducted was Elizabeth Suzanne Miles, a senior exercise and sport science major and daughter of Briggs David and Cindy Miles of Lexington.
Phi Beta Kappa membership is open to undergraduates in UNC-Chapel Hill’s College of Arts and Sciences and professional degree programs who meet stringent eligibility requirements.
A student who has completed 75 hours of course work and has a grade-point average of 3.85 (on a 4.0 scale) or better is eligible for membership. Also eligible is any student who has competed 105 hours of course work and has a 3.75 grade-point average. Grades earned at other universities are not considered. Less than 1 percent of all college students qualify to be members.
