KANNAPOLIS ó The man wanted for burglarizing an Odell Street home only to find a woman inside willing to fight back turned himself in Wednesday.
Police charged Henry Lee Bost of Kannapolis with first-degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony larceny, larceny of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon and assault by strangulation.
He was placed in the Cabarrus County Jail under $20,000 bond.
Warrants had been issued for his arrest last week.
Pearl Wagstaff, of 310 Odell St., told police she was in bed the night of May 22 when she heard glass break on the back porch. She grabbed a handgun, waited inside her locked bedroom and then observed a light outside her door.
Carrying a shotgun, a man forced open the door and attacked Wagstaff, the victim told police. In the struggle, Wagstaff said, she fired one round from her handgun and managed to get away from her attacker
Wagstaff locked herself in another room from which she called police and waited for their arrival.
Emergency responders took Wagstaff to NorthEast Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
During their investigation, police said, they received information from various sources leading to the identity of Bost.
