For the 10th year in a row, Cabarrus County’s Finance Department won the Distinguished Budget Presentation from the Government Finance Officers Association. This national award reflects the commitment of Cabarrus County and its staff to meet the highest principles of government budgeting.

In order to receive this significant recognition, budget documents must be rated “proficient” as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.

Each year, budget preparations begin in December and run through June, when the budget is officially adopted by the Board of Commissioners. The budget document is designed as a useful planning tool for county officials as well as an information resource for the general public.
