Scouting awards
KANNAPOLIS ó Two Kannapolis District scoutmasters were recipients of the Good Shepherd adult recognition award. Randy Shue, scoutmaster, and Brad Steen, assistant scoutmaster, of Troop 591 in Kannapolis were both honored with this recognition.
The award was presented to both men at their churches. Shue’s award was presented at Franklin Heights Baptist Church in Kannapolis and Steen’s award presented at Phaniels Baptist Church in Rockwell. The awards were presented by Jerry Burris (troop committee chairman), RD Weatherman (unit commissioner), and James Parnell (field director for Central N.C. Council).
The awards were presented on May 27, 2007 and June 3, 2007. Parnell noted, “These two individuals represent model scout leaders and have the qualities that inspire boys to become scouts who strive to attain their Eagle Award. They are the type of leaders that help scouting and religion grow strong in our community’s youth. Randy and Brad are very deserving of this award and live their daily lives by obeying the Scout Oath and Law. Our Council and their home church families are very proud of them.”
