Salisbury man charged with collecting insurance payments by false pretense

A Salisbury man faces seven counts of obtaining property by false pretense after collecting insurance payments on damages done to two vehicles before he even bought them.
Bobby Lee Steele Jr., 38, of 502 N. Shaver St. was released on $900 secured bond pending a first-appearance hearing today in Rowan County District Court, according to arrest reports. Steele is charged with collecting payments for damages to a 1997 GMC Yukon from Liberty Mutual Insurance, Safeco Insurance, Geico, AIG Insurance and Allstate Insurance, the reports said.
He is also charged with collecting payments for damages to a 1992 Dodge Dynasty from Allstate Insurance and Geico.
