People are needed to work as background extras for the Universal Pictures film “Leatherheads.”
Casting will be at Charlotte Merchandise Mart, 2500 East Independence Blvd., in Charlotte on Saturday between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for background extras and noon to 3 p.m. for speaking role for a rough and a tough 9 to 12-year-old boy.
Casting director Tona B. Dahlquist says “all types and all ages are needed.” Parents can complete the child’s casting form and attach a photo. “We are especially looking for those with great character faces.”
Those interested must bring a non-returnable current snaphot of themselves as no photos will be taken at the casting call. “Photos can be a basic snapshot printed off a computer or even a Polaroid,” Dahlquist said.
“We just want it to be very current and look like the individual. This is a 1920’s era film and certain looks are required.”
The production is also seeking 1920’s vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles and fire engines.
Photos of vehicles may be brought to the casting call or those with vehicles can e-mail speakeasyprod@gmail.com.
Filming is scheduled to begin in February 2007 in various regions of S.C. and N.C.
“Leatherheads” will star Oscar winners George Clooney and Renee Zellweger. Clooney is also slated to direct this 1920’s romantic comedy.
