Joe K. Hampton of Salisbury has been named one of the 23 members of the inaugural N.C. Agricultural and Life Sciences Research Foundation board of directors.
The foundation was recently launched by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University to build public and private support for research in the college. According to its mission, it will “create new opportunities for faculty, staff and students to innovate and pursue excellence in research.”
The board, which represents industry and academia, held its first meeting in May and elected officers.
Hampton was named Cohort of 2010 Representative. He is superintendent of the Piedmont Research Station in Rowan County and owner of Back Creek Angus.
