Lt. James Poteat
Lt. James Edward Poteat will be promoted to captain in the U.S. Air Force on May 28. Currently assigned to Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, Poteat is a military training commander in the 365th Training Readiness Squadron.
Poteat will receive a masters degree in health science, with an emphasis on emergency and disaster management, from Touro University International in Cypress, Calif., on August 7, 2007. He received a bachelors degree in geography from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2003.
Poteat began his military career in 1995.
He has served overseas in Kosovo, the Persian Gulf and Turkey.
Poteat was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal on July 31, 2006, for his service while stationed at Charleston.
A 1995 graduate of West Rowan High School, Poteat is married to Mica Faucette Poteat, daughter of Cathy and Mike Faucette of Salisbury. He is the son of Eddie and Vicky Poteat of Mt. Ulla and the grandson of Eddie and Charlotte Crowell of Salisbury.
