Council candidates information session
An information session will be held for Salisbury City Council candidates at 5 p.m. Thursday in Council Chambers at City Hall, 217 S. Main St.
The purpose of the session is for staff to provide information related to municipal government and the current City Council election process.
City Council candidates for the Nov. 6 election are Robert Boone, Bill Burgin, William “Pete” Kennedy, Susan Kluttz, Mark Lewis, Laura Lyerly and Paul Woodson.
All five at-large seats are up for election to two-year terms.
Annual Parks and Rec bike rodeo Saturday
The Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department’s Civic Center at 315 S. Boundary St., will be host from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday for its annual Bike Rodeo.
Salisbury Parks and Recreation is partnering with the Salisbury Police Department to teach young bike riders about biking safety and to offer them a day of biking fun.
There is no charge to participate in this event, and all young bikers are being encouraged to attend.
The Salisbury Police Department also will be registering bikes for security purposes for those who are interested in doing so.

Landscape of the month awards
Fairmont Terrace at South Fulton and West Horah streets and Taco Bell on East Innes Street received Landscape of the Month awards for June and July, respectively, from the Salisbury Community Appearance Commission.
For August, Mary Ann McCubbin of 213 W. Monroe St. received the residential Landscape of the Month award, and the Sonic restaurant on West Innes Street earned the commercial Landscape of the Month designation.
The next nominations will be coming from west Salisbury.
