Rowan-Cabarrus Community College will offer courses in Microsoft Office 2007 this fall to help students stay current with the latest in business software.
Instruction will include word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation software. Microsoft Office 2007 introduces a number of new capabilities, including an interface called ribbons that groups features by use.
RCCC also has partnered with Microsoft, through the Microsoft Development Network Academic Alliance, to give students expanded access to Microsoft products. Students enrolled in business technology programs will be able to use certain Microsoft operating systems, software and programming languages on their home computers and personal laptops.

New cardiologist
Emergency cardiac procedures are now available on site 24/7 at Rowan Regional Medical Center’s new Smith Heart & Vascular Center due to the addition of a second interventional cardiologist.
Dr. Barry Kramer, a board-certified interventional cardiologist with the Sanger Clinic, recently joined the medical staff and will provide cardiology services along with interventional cardiologist Dr. Anthony Bracken, who joined the staff last year through a partnership with the Sanger Clinic and Carolinas Medical Center.
As an interventional cardiologist, Kramer focuses on minimally invasive procedures for treatment of patients with heart disease. These procedures called angioplasty and stenting are done to open blocked or clogged arteries, which improve the blood flow to the heart. He has more than 25 years experience in the interventional cardiology field.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin and the Ohio State University College of Medicine, he completed internal medicine residencies at the University of California San Francisco General Hospital and the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. He also completed a cardiology fellowship and a cardiovascular research fellowship at the University of California in San Francisco.
He has held numerous teaching positions and served as an assistant professor of medicine at major universities and medical schools across the country. Prior to joining Rowan Regional, he was in private practice in Florida.
Rowan Regional’s Smith Heart & Vascular Center, located in the former Emergency Department, is a 12,000-square foot facility that houses a diagnostic and interventional heart catheterization lab, stress testing area, echocardiography and an interventional radiology section for diagnosing and treating blockages of the peripheral vascular system. In addition, Radiology Services, which is adjacent to the center, has expanded the nuclear medicine lab and ultrasound, mammography and stereotactic breast biopsy labs.
