MOCKSVILLE ó Stop the presses. Davie County’s boys basketball team hit only six 3-pointers Tuesday night against West Iredell.
That’s a low number considering the War Eagles had hit 24 in their last two games. But they didn’t need the long ball in a 64-51 win against West Iredell.
Davie (6-3) won its fourth straight game.
“I said earlier that with such a young group, if we won a game we could build on it,” coach Mike Absher said. “We really have. They have a little confidence in them.”
Davie placed four in double figures, led by center Shannon Dillard’s 16 points. Nate Jones (three 3s) and Michael Key each had 12 points, while Jamal Mayfield scored 10.
Mayfield also dished out seven assists. Dillard completed a double-double by grabbing 11 rebounds.
Matt Harris scored 15 points for the Warriors.
* Davie’s girls romped 77-32 behind 24 points by Janna Dixon.
