From staff reports
F&M Bank has joined Cheerwine as a co-sponsor for the Sam Moir Christmas Classic set for Dec. 28-30 at Catawba’s Goodman Gym.
Cheerwine has been sponsoring tournament T-shirts the past two years. F&M Bank is now part of the 38-year-old tournament.
“These two generous sponsorships allow us to manage the costs of officials, T-shirts for the participants, championship awards and security before the first ticket is sold at the door,” Catawba athletics director Dennis Davidson said.
“We also feel that it is very fitting that two local staples in the community are connected with a basketball tournament that is another Rowan County tradition. We thank Cliff Ritchie of Cheerwine and Steve Fisher of F&M Bank for their support of this endeavor.”
After expenses, all of the schools involved ó six Rowan County high schools, Davie and Catawba ó receive a share of the gate receipts.
