Peppers has 101/2 sacks and was voted an NFC starter on Tuesday. Running back DeAngelo Williams was picked to his first Pro Bowl.

Miami lost Graig Cooper to a right knee injury in the second quarter.n WASHINGTON ó Temple’s first bowl game in 30 years was ruined by the Bruins.
Akeem Ayers returned an interception 2 yards for a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter and UCLA shut down Temple in the second half for a 30-21 victory in the EagleBank Bowl.
The Bruins (7-6) rallied from a 21-7 first-half deficit against the Owls (9-4), whose only previous bowl appearances were in 1935 and 1979.
n LUBBOCK, Texas ó The lawyer for Mike Leach says the suspended Texas Tech coach did nothing wrong in how he treated a player with a “mild” concussion, and Leach wants a court’s help to allow him to coach the Alamo Bowl on Saturday.
University officials suspended Leach on Monday while the school investigates a complaint from receiver Adam James and his family. James is the son of former NFL player Craig James, now a television sports analyst for ESPN. A person close to James with direct knowledge of the situation alleges the player was twice forced to stand in a small, dark place while the team practiced.
COLLEGE BASKETBALLAUSTIN, Texas ó Damion James had 14 points and 13 rebounds as No. 2 Texas overcame a sluggish start for a 95-63 victory over Gardner-Webb. C.J. Hailey was 5-for-5 on 3-pointers and scored 20 points for Gardner-Webb (3-8).
n LEXINGTON, Ky. ó Freshman point guard John Wall set a school record with 16 assists and No. 3 Kentucky crushed Hartford 104-61. Wall added nine points and four rebounds as the Wildcats (14-0) matched their best start in 32 seasons.
Wall broke the record of 15 assists, set by Travis Ford against Eastern Kentucky in 1993.
n CLEMSON, S.C. ó Demontez Stitt made two free throws after Andre Young’s steal in the final minute and No. 21 Clemson avoided a big upset, holding off South Carolina State 70-67.
The Tigers (12-2) led by as many as 12 points in the second half, but the Bulldogs (6-4) drew within 68-67 on Tyvon Williams’ driving basket with 27.1 seconds left. South Carolina State had a chance to move in front its next trip, but Young stole the ball and fed it to Stitt.
n ATLANTA ó Mfon Udofia scored 17 points, and Derrick Favors had 13 points and 11 rebounds as the two freshmen helped Georgia Tech earn a 78-43 win over Winston-Salem State.

NEW YORK ó The Baywatch is set to begin at Citi Field.
Jason Bay and the New York Mets have reached a preliminary agreement, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press. The three-time All-Star is expected to sign a four-year contract for about $65 million.
The Mets still want to sign catcher Bengie Molina and perhaps add another starting pitcher.
NBAHOUSTON ó Aaron Brooks scored 27 points and Houston overcame Chris Paul’s triple-double in a 108-100 win. Paul had 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his 11th career triple-double.
nCHICAGO ó Derrick Rose scored 28 points and Chicago blew an early 19-point lead before recovering in the second half to beat Indiana 104-95. Pacers rookie Tyler Hansbrough was unable to play because of an inner ear infection.
nATLANTA ó Cleveland held Atlanta scoreless for almost nine minutes to open the fourth quarter and scored the first 10 points of the period to break open a close game and beat the Hawks 95-84.
n AUBURN HILLS, Mich. ó David Lee had a season-high 30 points and 12 rebounds as the New York Knicks beat Detroit 104-87.
n WASHINGTON ó Kevin Durant had 35 points and 11 rebounds in Oklahoma City’s 110-98 win over Washington.
