Davidson County Community College is offering prospective students three programs this fall that can be completed in the evening.
All course work for esthetics (skin care), computer-integrated machining and stick welding will be available in the evening on the Davidson Campus.
Earlier DCCC financial aid deadlines instituted this year require students to complete their federal financial aid application (FAFSA) by July 1 to receive their award by fall semester. Students may apply for financial aid after July 1, but their awards will be delayed. This means they should be prepared to pay their fall semester tuition by the Aug. 3 deadline.
In addition, July 22 is the new DCCC admissions deadline when students must complete and return all admissions documents in order to start fall classes on Wednesday, Aug. 17.
Esthetics offers students training to acquire scientific knowledge, technical skills and treatment methods to equip them to provide professional skin care services. These include facial treatments, hair removal techniques and correct make-up application. Graduates earn a certificate and qualify for employment in beauty and cosmetic/skin care salons, as a platform artist and in related businesses.
The computer-integrated machining certificate is designed to be completed in one calendar year at night. Once completed, the student should be able to design a simple item and use software to create the item in 3D, produce a rapid prototype, create the tooling, and then produce a final piece.
The stick welding certificate may be completed in one calendar year at night. Students will gain experience in the cutting process, reading blueprints and welding plate and pipe in various positions.
