Bobby Parnell (East Rowan) pitched for the New York Mets against the New York Yankees on Friday night in the Metsí 5-1 loss.
Parnell relieved Tim Byrdak in the eighth inning and allowed a run-scoring single to Eduardo Nunez.
After fielding a sacrifice bunt by pitcher Boone Logan, he struck out Nick Swisher with fastballs.

Kyle Seager (NW Cabarrus) had two hits for Tacoma on Friday and is batting .528 since his promotion to Triple A.
n The Kannapolis Intimidators lost 5-4 to Asheville on Friday.
John Spatola homered for Kannapolis and knocked in two runs.
n Rudy Brown (South Rowan) pitched for Burlington in relief in a 13-3 loss to Bristol on Friday.
Brown allowed five hits, two walks and one run in 21/3 innings, but he struck out four.

Rowan County and South Rowan are off tonight.
Kannapolis plays Wilkes in a doubleheader today at Webb Field.
Kannapolis has five games remaining and probably needs at least two victories to have a chance to make the playoffs.
Kannapolis takes on Rowan on Sunday and Monday and finishes the regular season at Mocksville on Tuesday.
That game will be a ěhomeî game for Kannapolis, but it will be played at Rich Park.
The playoffs start on July 8. Rowan County will be at home against a Northern Divison foe still to be determined. South Rowan will be on the road against a Northern team.
