KANNAPOLIS — The CitiFinancial office at 2302 South Cannon Blvd. has changed its name to OneMain Financial.
Deborah Morris, branch manager, said the name change will not impact products and services. “We’ll continue to work with each customer, one-on-one, to find a loan option that’s right for them.”
Mary McDowell is OneMain Financial’s chief executive officer.
Employees include Dana Storey and Kim Weddington.
To celebrate the new name, the branch will hold a sweepstakes throughout July. Customers and members of the community may be eligible to win a Blu-ray player. In addition, an official launch celebration event will be July 11, 9 a.m., with light refreshments. The celebration event is free and open to the public.
F&M Bank names Sandy Moore branch manager of Granite Quarry office
F&M Bank has named Sandy Moore branch manager of the Granite Quarry office.
A Rowan County native, Moore is a graduate of North Rowan High School, Catawba College and Virginia Tech University.
Before joining F&M, Moore worked for Wachovia Bank in Winston-Salem as a financial specialist and a regional private banker for the past five years. Moore served as assistant baseball coach at Catawba College for four years and is currently an assistant coach for the Rowan County American Legion baseball team. He and his wife, Kyndall, live in Salisbury.
Holiday Inn hosting summer festival, garage sale for children’s charity
Holiday Inn Salisbury is hosting a summer festival and garage sale Saturday, July 23, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to raise money for the Give Kids the World Village in Orlando, Fla.
The charity is for children with life threatening illnesses. Since 1989, Give Kids the World has welcomed more than 105,000 children and hosted more than 98,000 deserving families from all 50 states and 70 countries. Children and their families are treated to week-long cost free fantasy vacations in whimsical villas with wheelchair accessible pools and restaurants. They also get free tickets to all the Orlando attractions, including Disney World.
The carnival will have food, drinks, fun and games for the public. A car wash is $5. “Food & Fun” tickets are $5 for those 12 and older, $3 for those 6-11 and free for those under 5. The ticket includes hot dogs, chips, drink, popcorn, ice cream, sno-cones, face painting, games and more.

CMC-Northeast among hospitals recognized for inpatient service
Carolinas Medical Center (CMC), CMC-Pineville, CMC-Mercy, CMC-University, CMC-Union and CMC-NorthEast have been recognized for service excellence under the J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Hospital Program. This distinction acknowledges a strong commitment by the six hospitals to provide “An Outstanding Inpatient Experience.”
“Carolinas Medical Center has demonstrated impressive inpatient performance across multiple hospitals,” said John Clark, director of provider programs at J.D. Power and Associates. “This recognition distinguishes the care these facilities provide and places them within a select group of hospitals nationwide.”

Carolina Farm Credit employees receive service awards
STATESVILLE — Mike Morton, Carolina Farm Credit CEO, recently recognized employees for their years of service during the annual employee appreciation day at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons.
Carolina Farm Credit has 228 employees throughout its 36 service centers and administrative offices. The average tenure of a Carolina Farm Credit employee is almost 14 years.

EnergyUnited seeks volunteers Cornelius, Statesville panels
EnergyUnited is looking volunteers to serve on its Member Advisory Committees (MAC) in Cornelius and Statesville.
Electric cooperatives, like EnergyUnited, are owned by the customers or members they serve. As a result, EnergyUnited seeks members who will act as sounding boards for changes in service processes and development of new programs. This will allow MAC members to provide feedback to EnergyUnited about the needs and concerns of the cooperative’s membership. This ongoing interaction will help to further enhance communications between the members and EnergyUnited officials. Those who serve will learn more about EnergyUnited and be encouraged to share that information with fellow members.
Each MAC consists of up to 12 volunteers — from EnergyUnited’s 19-county service area — who represent the diverse membership of the cooperative. Each group will meet every four months. Meetings will be held in Statesville, Lexington, and Cornelius.
As a standard, MAC members will serve three-year terms on a rotating basis. In order to establish this rotating schedule, some members on the initial committee will serve shorter terms. The length of each member’s term will be decided during their first meeting. To encourage member participation and ensure that a true cross-section of the membership is represented, members will rotate off the committee for at least three years before being considered for another seat.

CEDC Advanced Manufacturing Awards for 2011 announced
ALBEMARLE — International Automotive Components, a Stanly County manufacturer, was honored by the Centralina Economic Development Commission (CEDC) with a 2011 Regional Advanced Manufacturing Award.
The awards are sponsored by the division of the Centralina Council of Governments (CCOG) and 14 partnering organizations.
The awards recognize excellence in manufacturing in three separate categories: Process Improvement, Green Process Improvement, and Corporate Leadership. Selected by an independent judging panel with managers from manufacturing firms, academic and research leaders, this year’s winners are:
International Automotive Components was honored with the Best Green Process award, along with Livingston & Haven of Charlotte.
Best Process Improvement award went to Accuma Corp. of Statesville and Besam Entrance Solutions of Monroe.
