Lazy Five stepped forward to help grieving family
I just wanted to write in and let readers know that this past weekend we lost someone very close to our family. He was the 14-year -old middle school student Eric Soto (who died in an auto accident). He and his brothers are like sons to us. However, there was one thing that I was most impressed with, and this was how the Lazy Five Ranch (where Eric and his brother were volunteers) stepped up and took care of everything for the family.
I was at the hospital the day it happened, and we were sitting in the back room when the state trooper showed up. From the time he asked about arrangements for the funeral services, the two ladies that were there didn’t spare a second and said let us take care of this for you. They did just that. This child had the most beautiful funeral service ever, including white doves and white balloons being released at the end of the burial, followed by a dinner at the ranch for everyone.
They are also having a barbecue on Dec. 15 to collect money for the family. I don’t think I have ever in my life of such an act of kindness. I just felt it was necessary to tell someone that these are wonderful people with really big hearts.I just wanted to let them know how thankful we are to them for what they did for the Soto family and making sure Eric had the best departure from this earth.

Congratulations and thanks to Buddy Poole on the 10th anniversary of “Memories 1280” radio. This is a hometown radio station that truly caters to our community. Memories 1280 carries local sports events, advertises our local merchants and keeps us informed of happenings in Salisbury/Rowan. The music format is great throughout the year, and I’m looking forward to the transition into Christmas music on Dec. 10.
