Livingstone’s men’s basketball team got past Morehouse 58-57 in Atlanta on Tuesday night when Eric Dubose made a layup at the buzzer.

Ty Newman led the Blue Bears with 18 points. Hakeem Jackson and Dwight Williams scored 10 each for the Blue Bears (6-1).

Livingstone women

Livingstone’s women’s basketball team stayed unbeaten with a 73-54 win at Queens on Tuesday.

Kyra Crosby scored 21 points to lead the Blue Bears (9-0).

Amber Curtis and Precious Roberts scored 12 each. Alexis Fowler had 10.

Livingstone forced 31 turnovers and limited the Royals to four offensive rebounds.

 

Prep indoor track

East Rowan’s Brittany Small cleared 5 feet. 2 inches and won the high jump at the Liberty Elite Meet.

 

8th-grade basketball

Janiya Downs scored 19 points to lead Corriher-Lipe to a 39-16 win against Southeast.

Ashlyn Plott scored eight for the Yellow Jackets, and Rhiannon Kimmer had seven.

Kaitlyn Honeycutt scored 12 for the Patriots.

• North Rowan Middle’s boys won 52-40 against Mooresville.

Brevin Goodlett  led the Mavericks (9-0)  with 21 points and nine rebounds and some clutch free throw shooting at the end. Dajawon Cook had 10 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots. Cameron Gill tallied 12 points. Quintous Smith had six points and five rebounds. Jaden Perry had another good defensive effort with five steals and four rebounds.

Mooresville was led by Jordan Kelly with 12 points. Greyson Cahill and Jay Davis had 10 apiece. North Rowan Middle will face Erwin at home on Thursday.  Mooresville travels to China Grove.

Women’s  hoops

Ayana Avery (West Rowan) scored 25 points to lead Radford to a 60-59 win against Wofford on Monday. Avery broke the school record for career 3-pointers on Saturday.

• Livingstone’s Anita Howard was named CIAA Co-Coach of the Week, the third straight week she’s been honored.

 

College hoops

Darius Moose (Carson) scored 16 points in Brevard’s 76-70 win against Lees-McRae on Monday.

• Tre Williams (Carson) scored 23 points for Davidson County Community College in a 114-106 win against Wytheville CC.

 

North Hills basketball

The North Hills elementary girls defeated Community School of Davidson 28-20.

Elizabeth Jones had 12 points. Bethany Hogan scored six.

• North Hills beat Salisbury Academy 22-18.

Abigail Zunk scored 14 points for the Eagles.

 

College soccer

Catawba goalkeeper Bethany Davis made second team All-Southeast Region.

Davis finished the year with a 1.22 goals against average while recording 91 saves.

Sacred Heart hoops

Sacred Heart’s varsity girls won 56-20 against Concordia Lutheran in a  league game.

Mary Sobataka scored 25 for the Dolphins.  Olivia Dagenhart  had 10.

• Sacred Heart’s varsity boys won 42-28 against Concordia.

Bill Fisher scored 12 points, Spencer Blackwell had 10,  Blaine Shellhorn  added eight, and Jack Fisher chipped in with six.

Brody Dillon, Sean Archer and William Austin led the defense.

• Sacred Heart’s jayvee girls won 28-6 against Concordia.  Rachel McCullough scored 16, and Sutton Webb  had 10.

• Sacred Heart’s jayvee boys lost 40-36 in overtime against Concordia.

Nick Antosek led the Dolphins with 13 pts. Will Webb followed with nine.

 

 Prep basketball 

A.L. Brown’s girls stayed unbeaten with a 61-58 victory against Vance on Tuesday.

Aitana Grant scored 16, Kyla Downs had 14, and Esther Kituku had 10 for the Wonders (7-0, 2-0).

• Davie’s boys rolled 68-52 against Central Davidson on Tuesday.

Holden Poole scored 14 points for the War Eagles. Jordan McDaniel had 11 and Dylan Shoffner scored 10.

• Davie’s girls rolled 63-23 against Central Davidson.

Robinson’s Bulldogs battled Hough on Tuesday in Mecka action, but the Huskies ultimately came away with a 69-59 win.

For Robinson, Jordan McKenzie, son of former East Rowan coach Greg McKenzie, led the way with 22 points while Conner Boothe contributed 11.

Hough’s Luke Maye, a verbal commitment to North Carolina, scored a game-high 26 points. Chase Sweetman was the team’s second-leading scorer with 18 points.

• Robinson’s girls got a close 43-39 win Tuesday over Mecka foe Hough.

Kelsi Mahoney’s 14 points were a team-high for the Bulldogs. Sydni Bickford contributed 13 points to the win.

• Hickory Ridge’s girls won 82-25 against Northwest Cabarrus in SPC action on Tuesday.

Stacia Means scored 19 for the Ragin’ Bulls. Laura McManimen scored 17.

 

Jayvee basketball

East Rowan’s boys won 49-42 against West Rowan  on Tuesday.

Paiton File scored  16 for the Mustangs. Lucas Morton had 10, and Franklin Downing and Ellis Taylor scored seven apiece.

• Carson’s jayvee boys stayed unbeaten with a 61-57 win against Concord.

Jailen Williams scored 21 for the Cougars. Cameron Prugh had 19, and Owen White scored 11.

Prep wrestling

East Rowan won 48-28 against Mount Pleasant on Tuesday.

Charlotte 49ers

Pierria Henry scored 20 points, Torin Dorn 19 and Charlotte scored 10 of the final 11 as it rallied to defeat Charleston 90-85 in overtime Tuesday night.

Charleston (5-5) appeared ready to extend its three-game winning streak, leading in double digits until going scoreless for a four-minute stretch late, allowing Charlotte to surge ahead in the final 4:30 of regulation.

In the OT, Charleston went up 84-80 on 3-pointers from Canyon Berry and Anthony Stitt, only to again go cold — scoring just one more point in the last 2:48.

Mike Thorne, Keyshawn Woods and Dorn scored a quick six points for the 49ers (5-4), playing their first game in nine days.
