The reservation deadline is Tuesday for the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce’s first Power in Partnership breakfast of the year.

Professor Eric R. Hake will present a 2015 economic outlook titled “Green Shoots and Ladders”during the breakfast on Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at Trinity Oaks at 728 Klumac Road. This month’s PIP is presented by the Bank of North Carolina.

Hake is the Associate Professor of Economics and department chair of Business and Economics at Catawba College. He joined Catawba College in 2010 and has been teaching economics at the college level since receiving his doctorate in economics in 1994 from the University of Tennessee.

His primary interests are macroeconomics and finance history, focusing on the legal and financial adaptations associated with technological change that jointly create the modern global economy. The social impacts of these changes are best described by Joseph Schumpeter’s expression “gales of creative destruction.”

Hake has been published in the Journal of Economic Issues, the Forum for Social Economics, and the Review of Political Economy, and serves as the secretary for the international academic association, The Association for Evolutionary Economics.
He lives with his wife and daughter in Salisbury.

The upcoming breakfast dates are: Feb. 19, March 19, April 16 and May 21. People interested in obtaining a Half-season Power Card should contact the chamber. The Power Card is the chamber’s frequent attender program. Those who have it receive a discounted price for the series and do not have to make a reservation each month.
