Business Roundup: New Family Dollar store open in Spencer’s downtown plaza

The new Family Dollar has opened in Spencer’s downtown plaza. The store was built in the parking lot and replaces the Family Dollar in the row of shops. The 8,000-square-foot brick building has an arched entrance way and is along Salisbury Avenue.
The brick facade and entrance way were designed to allow the building to better reflect the downtown historic district. The store is open each day from 9 a.m to 9 p.m.
Local chef opens second restaurant downtown
Chef Jose Santos has opened Café Brazil at 121 E. Innes Street.
The café serves traditional- and Brazilian- style pizza, whole and by the slice. It also has salads and an array of entrées including Copacabana chicken. Beer, wine and liquor are also available.
Hours are: Lunch — Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Dinner — Tuesday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Fridays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The cafe is open from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and is closed on Sundays.

Santos also owns Chef Santos by Goodfellas Restaurant on East Fisher Street.
Workshops focus on health care planning
Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care is partnering with Trinity Oaks to facilitate monthly Advance Healthcare Planning workshops beginning Tuesday.
“Got Plans?” workshops will be held the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. at Trinity Oaks at 728 Klumac Road in Salisbury.
The workshops are designed to assist individuals in making informed medical decisions so their loved ones can legally honor those wishes. Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care believes that families should also plan for end-of-life care to avoid potential stress when medical emergencies and life-threatening illness arise.

Jenny Harrington recently celebrated 20 years with the accounting firm Alan F. Burke in Salisbury.
