Lynna Clark: Count Them If You Can

It’s been a long time since I’ve done laundry at seven in the morning … maybe since never. I won’t go into the odd circumstances of the day even though I’m sure you’d find the details riveting. As I looked out the back window there was a gift.
Wow! What a gorgeous sunrise as the sky exploded into bright oranges, pinks and blues. That’s a lot of beauty going on behind the scenes. I’m so glad I didn’t miss it. How long has this been happening without me noticing? A few minutes later the color had faded into the grays of normalcy.
Finally it dawned on me this morning.
Just because I don’t observe the process doesn’t mean there’s nothing in the works. Just because I can’t imagine the grand scope of the plan doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
I love how God answered Abram’s question about His promise to give him a family.
“Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have. Abram believed the Lord and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.” –Genesis 15:5,6
The lesson seems to come with a little chuckle. Take it all in “if you can.” The Lord tends to do things on quite a grand scale. However, His requirement of us is very small.
Faith … like mustard seed faith … is all He asks.
“O Lord my God, You have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal!” Psalm 40:5
Count them if you can!
There’s a lot of beauty going on behind the scenes. Thankfully His plan continues whether I happen to look out my back window or not.
