A pedestrian was airlifted to Baptist Medical Center after she was hit by a car Wednesday evening.

Emergency crews responded to the 2100 block of Statesville Boulevard, near West End Plaza at 6:35 p.m.

The victim was conscious and alert, but was airlifted to Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.

Neither the name of the patient nor the driver was available.

According to Salisbury Police Sgt. P.J. Smith, the accident was still under investigation later Wednesday. It is unknown if any charges will be filed.
