No immediate cause has been determined in the fatal crash of a Mount Ulla man, N.C Highway Patrol reports show.
Timothy Phelps, 36, of Childers Road, was killed early Sunday just over a mile south of Cleveland on Hall Road, near Amity Hill Road.
He was driving his 2002 Dodge F-250 north on Hall Road when he crossed the center line, ran off the opposite shoulder, then struck a fence and a post.
The report said after striking the fence and post, Phelps struck a culvert and overturned. His pickup came to rest on its roof. Phelps died at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the 1:11 a.m. crash, and Phelps was the only person inside the truck. Rowan County Rescue also responded.
There is no indication of what caused the crash. There also doesn’t appear to be any impairment. Trooper C.J. Doty investigated the crash.
