The long fought over Rowan-Salisbury School System central office could finally get a name on Monday.
Superintendent Dr. Lynn Moody appointed a building naming committee, comprised of all Rowan County mayors last Wednesday. The committee unanimously approved the proposed name, “Wallace Educational Forum.” The school board will vote on the name Monday.
The N.C. Local Government Commission approved the loan on the building last week, and Assistant Superintendent of Operations will give the board an updated look at the proposed construction timeline. Ground breaking could take place as soon as the week of March 30 or April 6.
Kristi Rhone, human relations director, will discuss the number of certified vacancies in the district and the procedures for hiring replacements.
Executive Director of Administration and Legal Services April Kuhn will go over a number of proposed human relations policies, as well as proposed policies dealing with school assignment and school visitors.
Board Chairman Josh Wagner will also go over the board’s expectations of its attorney.
The Board of Education’s work session will be held on Monday at 4 p.m., at the district’s administrative offices, 314 N. Ellis St., in Salisbury.
