The two youngest children of Casey and Sandy Parsons remain in their grandparents’ custody after a brief hearing Thursday morning in Rowan County Juvenile Court.
The Parsonses’ two biological children, Sadie and Toby, have been in the care of her parents, James and Shirley Stone, and will remain with the Stones until after the Parsonses are sentenced in federal court next week.
Custody was shifted to Casey’s family after law enforcement officials discovered Erica Parsons, the couple’s adopted daughter, had been missing since November 2011. The couple’s biological son, Jamie Parsons, reported Erica missing on July 30, 2013.
Carolyn Parsons, Erica’s biological mother, was in the juvenile courtroom, which is not open to the public. She told a Post reporter the judge will grant the Parsonses one farewell visit with Sadie and Toby, likely after the federal sentencing next week.
Sandy and Casey face years in federal prison after she pleaded guilty and he was found guilty of a number of fraud offenses.
