Novant Rowan hosting free heart-healthy breakfast

February is American Heart Month, and to help Rowan County residents remember to give their heart a little love, Novant Health Rowan Medical Center is hosting a heart-healthy breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
It’s part of the hospital’s efforts to bring awareness to heart disease.
The Centers for Disease Control says heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S. A 2012 Rowan Health Department report indicates Rowan has a higher heart disease mortality rate than the state.
The free breakfast will feature heart-healthy food and a discussion by Dr. Brian Fazia of Novant Health Heart & Vascular Institute about proper heart care. Free screenings for A1C, body mass index and blood pressure will be offered, along with door prizes and giveaways.
The breakfast will be held at Lee Street Theatre, 329 N. Lee St. Registration is required. Call 1-800-335-4921 to register.
