Ardis Chapel holds Black history banquet

Ardis Chapel AME Zion Church, 1840 Old Mocksville Road, will hold its annual Black History Banquet on Saturday, February 28, tonight at 6 p.m. A $15 donation is requested for adults and $5 for children ages 4-11.

 

Erwin Temple plans Rainbow Tea 

The Missionary Society of Erwin Temple Church will hold its annual Rainbow Tea Sunday (weather permitting) at 3 p.m. The Missionaries will be working in table color groups representing the Rainbow colors. Each group will present a talent to make up the program during the occasion.

Following the program, dinner will be served in the fellowship hall. Sis. Nellie P. Hargrove serves as president of the Missionary Society. The pastor is Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr.

 

Lent at First UCC

First United Church of Christ, 207 W. Horah St., will celebrate the second Sunday of Lent with Holy Communion. As part of UCC’s Women’s Week, the women of the church will participate in all parts of the service. Resident pastor Rev. Carol Hallman will continue her Lenten series “Come to the Feast” by focusing on being “Fed by The Spirit.”

The Salisbury-Rowan Pastor’s aid Union 22nd annual crusade will be held Monday through Friday, March 2-6. Services are at 7 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist.

Homecoming at Love Christian Center

East Spencer — Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St. will celebrate homecoming Sunday March 1, at 4 p.m. with speaker Troy Russell, senior pastor of Community Outreach Christian Ministries in Charlotte. Pastor Troy is the campus minister at Livingstone College and instructor of religious studies.

United As One fellowship service

Cleveland — On Sunday, March 1 at 4 p.m. the United As One Fellowship service will be hosted by Smith Chapel Apostolic Holiness Church, 1735 Mount Tabor Church Road, with host pastor Bishop Wayne Brown.

Goodwin at Corinth Gospel meet

Woodleaf — Corinth Church of Christ, 3570 Needmore Road, will host its Spring Gospel Meeting March 1 through 4. Cliff Goodwin from the Ironaton Church of Christ in Talladega, Ala. will bring a series of gospel lessons on the theme of “Knowing with Certainty” from studies in Luke. Services will be Sunday at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Weekday services will start at 7 p.m. A covered dish meal will follow the morning lessons.

Goodwin is a graduate of Memphis School of Preaching and Faulkner University. During his 18 with the Ironaton church he has worked in television evangelism, initially in the local market and more recently on Gospel Broadcasting Network (GBN). Hotdog fundraiser at Rodgers Park

Lake Speed to speak at St. Luke’s Reformed

Retired NASCAR driver Lake Speed will take the pulpit to share his testimony at St. Luke’s Reformed Church on Sunday March 1, at the 10:30 a.m. service.

With more than 74 top-ten finishes to his credit, Lake was also a founding board member of the Christian fellowship (Motor Racing Outreach or MRO) inside the garage area.

The Women’s Fellowship will host a spaghetti luncheon immediately following the service.

St. Luke’s Reformed is located at 1775 St. Luke’s Church Road, about a mile from East Rowan High School.

 

Black history program by the youth of Crown In Glory

The youth of Crown In Glory Lutheran Church, 517 E. Bank St., will present a Black history program at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, honoring the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King, through skits, praise dancing, recitations, and music. Matthew Weaver and the Gospel Voices

Word of faith hosts Evangelist Brown

Evangelist Mary Brown will share her powerful testimony at World of Faith on Sunday, March 1.

Brown experienced God’s power when he raised her up after overdosing on drugs twice. She is now a minster in healing, deliverance, evangelism and prophetic gifts. She is the author of the book “Oh Lord Help Me, My Grandson Killed My Son.” Evangelist Brown will be selling books.

Our Song2 at Catawba

On Sunday, March 1 at 5:30 p.m. the Department of Music at Catawba College will present Our Song2, the first of two choral concerts featuring music selected and performed by members of the choral ensembles on the campus of Catawba College. The one hour performance will be held in Omwake-Dearborn Chapel at Catawba College.

 

Family movies at Kirkwood

KANNAPOLIS — Kirkwood Presbyterian Church features Christian movies on the first Saturday of each month. Christian Science speaker at Literary Bookpost

Julie Ward, practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing, will be speaking at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, on “Cherishing our children, a spiritual perspective.” This event is free, at the Literary Bookpost, 110 S. Main St.

Ward is a Salisbury native and member of Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

 

Black History dinner celebration 

Concord — Rock Hill AME Zion Church Christian Education Department hosts a Black History Dinner Celebration of Heritage on Saturday March 7, at the Rock Hill AME Zion Church, 3620 Rock Hill Church Road, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.
