LANDIS —The 9th annual CHAOS Dinner Theater will take place on Saturday, March 14 at 6 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 108 West Rice St., followed by an encore performance on Sunday, March 15 at 4 p.m. at Trinity.
In 2 Timothy 4:7, Paul says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” This often quoted passage of scripture is very significant because it was Paul’s last epistle before his martyrdom. It is a very moving affirmation of his unwavering faith and love for the gospel of Jesus.
The title of this year’s show is “Fight the Good Fight.” This fight that we are portraying is not some bare fists, martial arts, physical confrontation. This fight is a spiritual battle. I feel the theme is a significant reminder that Christians struggle every day against evil, both within ourselves and the world. Life is filled with heartache, sickness, hardships, temptations and many trials that take control of our thoughts and emotions. This is why we must “take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day.” It’s called a good fight because it’s a fixed fight. It’s fixed in that God guarantees that you will be a winner if you faithfully follow His word. I think it was written perfectly in Ephesians 6:12 “Our battle is not with flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
CHAOS will perform a variety of different acts with more than 50 students participating. Each year we take a close look at the God-given talents, personal stories and interests our students want to share. As a youth group we strive to put God at the center of all we do; we pray that He will be glorified above all. It’s very important to the students and myself to provide a positive and encouraging message of faith to our audience. A message in which others will see just how much Jesus Christ loves and cares for them. We hope that if anyone comes to our show looking for healing, strength, hope or just a simple reminder of how great God is, that they will find just that. You can also expect lots of laughs, some tears and as always, a few twists and surprises.
I have always loved the fine arts, particularly dance, music and writing. Christian drama ministry has been an outlet for me to express my faith through my interests. I have found that intersecting the arts and my faith has really allowed me to make a strong connection with my students.
No matter what battle you may be facing in your life remember that God is greater. He is the ultimate undefeated champion of the world. He gave his life for you and me. Throughout time generations of people have given their lives so that you could know God’s love. So CHAOS would like to remind the world to keep fighting the good fight of faith. Come out swinging with the Word of God coming out of your mouth. Satan will be seeing stars and you’ll be seeing your victory.
CHAOS is available to perform at church and community events throughout the year. If you are interested in having CHAOS at your event, please contact Candice Carter at sryouthdirector@yahoo.com
For those who can’t get tickets or are unable to attend the March 15 show, an encore performance will be performed on Sunday, March 15 at 4 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 108 West Rice St. Landis. No reservation or ticket is required. This is a wonderful event for church youth groups and anyone who would like to join us.
