Teacher spotlight: Pam Drye

Pam Drye is the technology facilitator at Ethan H. Shive Elementary School.

Family: I am married to Gary Drye and have a son, Sawyer Drye, and a daughter, Kiersten Drye. My parents are Glenn and Shirley Ritchie of Rockwell.
Favorite food: Pizza
Favorite color: Green
Favorite TV show: “The Bachelor”
Favorite book: Working in an elementary school my entire career, I have always read books appropriate for this age. One of my favorite books is “Jumanji” by Chris Van Allsburg.
Favorite movies: “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (the version starring Jim Carrey), “Dirty Dancing” and “Titanic”
Favorite sport or team: N.C. State
Hobbies: I enjoy spending time with my family, especially when we are at the beach or around the pool.
Dream vacation: My dream vacation is anywhere that I can put my toes in the sand.
Prized possession: My prized possessions are my two wonderful children who I adore tremendously.
Actor who would star in the movie of my life: Even though this is now an impossibility, the late Patrick Swayze would be my choice of co-stars. The actor who would star in the movie of my life would be Jennifer Aniston – even though we don’t even closely resemble, I love her personality.
Hidden talent: I am a certified SCUBA diver.

Someone who inspires you: One of my biggest inspirations was (and still is) my late aunt Melissa Rogers, who introduced me to a passion of hers – the field of education.
Greatest accomplishment: My greatest accomplishment has been to maintain balance between a healthy relationship with my family and a career that extends beyond regular school hours.
