Another modest proposal
What a great idea Tom Hervey had about burning the Constitution because of political bipartisanship and gridlock. After all, the Constitution is an outdated, ancient document. The Feds don’t abide by it anyway, and there is no need to pretend that they do! It is only logical and honest to say to heck with the government rules. There shouldn’t be any rules or limits on what the government does for us or to us. Again, great idea!
In keeping with this logic, we would abolish the legislative branch and every law ever written and we could let the current president become president for life. No need for elections, courts or written laws. Only the supreme leader. He could tell us everything we can and should do for our own good. He would fight our battles for us and he would protect us from all harm. No more freedom or that pesky thing called responsibility to worry about.
And if the government should have no rules, we should abolish all rules for everything else also. Even the games we play. Let the strongest of the strong have their way in all things. Think how much this would do for progress! A totally limitless society with only the limits of the imagination to lead us to the stars! “Imagine all the people sharing all the world” (John Lennon). May you say I’m a dreamer?
Somehow, I need someone else to think of a single downside to this vision.
