Area Sports Briefs: No-hitters for North baseball, Salisbury softball

North Rowan pitchers Brandon White, Cameron Tucker and Joe Harrison combined on a no-hitter in a 14-0 CCC baseball win against Lexington on Tuesday.
White struck out five in a three-inning stint.
Stevie Thurston led North Rowan’s offense with four RBIs. Henderson Lentz drove in two runs. Thurston, Noah Gonzalez and Tyler Shepherd led a 13-hit attack.
• East Rowan won 9-6 against West Forsyth in Clemmons on Tuesday.
East Rowan led 6-0 early, but West Forsyth came back to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth.
The Mustangs got a go-ahead homer from Samuel Wyrick in the seventh.
John Owen also homered for the Mustangs. Ike Freeman and Joseph Peeler had multiple hits.
Tyler Scruggs pitched five strong innings (one earned run). Scruggs was relieved by Harrison Bell. Alec Hamilton got out of a jam in the sixth and pitched the seventh and was credited with the win.
The Mustangs host South Rowan Wednesday in a key South Piedmont Conference game.
• A.L. Brown won 5-2 against Robinson in MECKA action on Tuesday.
The Wonders (5-2, 4-1) got strong pitching from Jordan Reid and Matt Brown. Reid pitched into the sixth and struck out five. Brown got the last five outs for a save.
Kameron Sherrill, Clayton Gilmore, Daniel O’Kelly and Kaseim Black had two hits each.
• Davie lost 2-0 to R.J. Reynolds in CPC baseball on Tuesday. UNC recruit Logan Welch (4-0) was the winning pitcher for the Demons.
Isaac Campbell struck out eight and allowed one earned run for the War Eagles, and Nathan Harrell also pitched well.
Brandon Lankford, Paul Davenport and Mitchell McGee had hits for Davie.
• Tyler Willard pitched a no-hitter for West Davidson in a 15-0 CCC victory over Thomasville on Tuesday.
Prep softball
Salisbury’s Caroline Forbis pitched a no-hitter in a 15-0 CCC softball win against Lexington on Tuesday.
Forbis struck out eight.
Forbis and Michaela Lemmon homered.
Kate Murph had three hits. Forbis, Lemmon and Calissa Anderson had two hits each.
• A.L. Brown’s softball team won 10-2 against Mallard Creek. Jordan Hardeman and Kaylee Cook had three hits each. Allie Baker and Kelly Chrismon had two hits each.
Stallions baseball
The Greater Cabarrus Stallions lost to the Charlotte Stampede 7-4.
Sawyer Strickland and Drake Boger had two hits. Strickland, Tyler Hartsell and Hunter Shepherd had doubles.
The Stallions (7-2) will play against East Montgomery on Thursday.
NCHSAA
Jack Elliott of Garner and Jonnie Petree of North Henderson won the Performance of the Week awards.
Elliott went 7-for-8 for Ganer baseball.
Petree, the shortstop for North Henderson’s softball team, set the school career record for runs scored.
College baseball
Lenior Rhyne scored five runs in the ninth and won 14-11 against Winston-Salem State on Tuesday.
Chase Hathcock (East Rowan) had three hits and two RBIs. He had the tiebreaking hit in the ninth.
• Catawba’s Will Albertson was named the SAC Player of the Week for the second straight week.
Albertson batted .722, with 13 hits. He had five doubles, a pair of home runs and a triple.
Women’s lacrosse
Colorado Mesa got five goals each from Jenny Lange and Ashley Eickhoff in a 23-10 win over host Catawba (5-5) on Tuesday.
Alyssa Corace scored four goals for the Indians.
College track
Livingstone competed in the Powersox Invitational in Hickory and had six wins and 26 top-10 finishes.
Garland Archie (North Rowan) placed second in the discus with a P.R. (43.08 meters) and third in the shot (14.47 meters).
Daniel King (North Rowan) won the javelin with a P.R. 45.67 meters and was sixth in the triple jump.
Quanera Hayes won the women’s 400 and 200 in meet-record times.
The Blue Bears will travel to Rock Hill, S.C. , for the Winthrop Invitational March 27-28.
Livingstone parade
Livingstone’s men’s basketball team will be honored with a parade on Saturday, March 28.

Women’s hooops
Karleigh Wike (East Rowan) had two points and two rebounds in eight minutes of action in Richmond’s 48-47 loss to Duquesne in the Women’s NIT on Tuesday.
College golf
The Livingstone men’s golf team is the leader after the first round of the CIAA Northern Division Championship at Lake Chesdin Country Club in Chesterfield, Va.
Livingstone shot 315 and leads Fayetteville State by 14 strokes.
Phillip Harrison and Stephen Washington shot 77s for the Blue Bears.
Local golf
Forty-eight GARS members played in their own foursomes at Rolling Hills.
Mickey Ousley shot his age — 71.
Low ‘A’ Flight player was Mickey Ousley with a net of 62.99.
Low ‘B’ Flight player was Ben Moore with a net of 66.91. Low ‘C’ Flight player was Paul Rogers with a net of 64.95. Low ‘D’ Flight player was John Rader with a net of 68.92.
Middle school golf
Salisbury Academy shot 195 and finished second in a four-team match at Catawba Country Club in Newton.
The Jaguars were led by Will Fowler (46), Hank Robins (47), Mitch Jeter (49) and Walker Hartpence (53). Concordia was first with 180. Also competing were Hickory Christian (212) and Newton-Conover (222).
Mid. school soccer
Erwin’s boys defeated West Rowan 4-2.
Erwin goals were scored by Alex Kalogeromitros, Derrick Zerron, Landon Ketchie, and James Lomax.
Hunter Eagle recorded 10 saves.
