Cub Scout Pack 306 awarded Cub Cup for 2014

As a testament to the enthusiasm of its members, Cub Scout Pack 306 was recently awarded the Cub Cup for 2014, an honor recognizing the highest level of involvement of a Cub Scout Pack. This year’s award makes them Cub Cup champs for the second year in a row and only the second pack in the county to be awarded the Cub Cup.

Cub Cup criteria is based on various areas in scouting such as fundraising, community service, leader training and assistance, event participation, extensive outdoor activities and pack retention and growth.

Adult leaders of the Pack were presented with the trophy Thursday, March 19 at the annual Rowan District Leaders’ Banquet at the F&M Trolley Barn. In addition, the following honors were presented to several of the leaders: John Barber-Tiger Den Leader of the Year; Mark Latva- Wolf Den Leader of the Year; Frank Everhart- Webelos Den Leader of the Year; Stephanie Mesimer- Cubmaster of the Year; and Dee Ann Vincent- District Award of Merit.

The present Cub Scout Pack 306 came into existence in September 2008. Throughout the past, the pack has been blessed with enthusiastic Cub Scouts, willing and involved adult leaders and progressive growth. Participation in Rowan District and Central North Carolina Council events has been a staple of their event calendar over the years. Many times the adult leaders have played an integral part in planning and staffing the events which their Scouts have enjoyed. Among those events have been many week-long Rowan District Cub Scout Day Camps, Webelos Residence Camp, and Outdoor Games and Gold Rush at Camp Barnhardt. They have also participated in the Veteran’s Day parade and the Holiday Caravan. They are also heavily involved in community service through the NC Clean Sweep, Scouting for Food, the NC Veterans Home and their charter organization, North Hills Christian School.

Leaders of Pack 306 include Stephanie Mesimer, Cubmaster, Harold Mesimer, Assistant Cubmaster, Mark Latva, Dee Ann Vincent, Scott Vincent, Frank Everhart, John Barber, Ann Barber, Heather Joubert, Anni Barber, Jennifer Wilson and Kellie Doan.

Webelos I: Jackson Everhart, Mason Everhart, Ethan Talbott, Kane Talbott

Bears: Rylan Talbott, Sam Wilson

Wolves: Layton Barber, Christopher Barringer, Daniel Doan, Maxwell Foote, Joshua Hastings, Brayden Latva, Luke Mesimer, Brayden Smith

Tigers: Dylan Carter, Corbin Cross, Joshua Douthit, Gavin Elliott, Caleb Luna, Alec McGrail
