Prayer breakfast
The men of the Tower of Power United Holy Church are having their monthly prayer breakfast today at 8 a.m. with speaker the Rev. Michael Oney of Southside Church of God in Concord. For information call 704-636-1244.
First Presbyterian
Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury’s will begin in the sanctuary at 8:30 a.m. with the sermon of Dr. Randy Kirby. The Middle School and High School Youth will lead the 8:50 a.m. service in Lewis Hall and the 11 a.m. service in the sanctuary. The youth will relate how God is in their everyday lives and how we can all serve “the least of these.”
The Third Creek AME Zion
The Third Creek AME Zion Church Christian education department is hosting its annual Women’s Day program Sunday, April 26. The theme is “Christian Women Praising God Together.” The speaker for the 11 a.m. service is Sister Carrie Warren with music by the Woman’s Day Choir.
Dinner prepared and served by the men of the church will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Grayson Fellowship Hall.
The afternoon service is at 3 p.m., with the speaker Evangelist Cathy Marlin and a special presentation by Anita Harper. Special music is by The Echoes for Christ.
Ladies are asked to wear navy blue with pastel accessories.
Mount Zion UCC
CHINA GROVE – During the 11 a.m. service at Mount Zion UCC, 1415 S, Main St., the Rev. Kim Hodges will be the guest worship leader. Rev. Hodges is currently serving as chaplain at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. Rev. Hodges will be leading the fourth Sunday adult program at 10 a.m. in the new building, on What To Say during difficult times of death, dying and illness. The Mt. Zion Children’s choir will sing during the service. After worship Mt. Dr. Sam Nadler at Calvary Baptist
On Sunday, Dr. Sam Nadler will be speaking at Calvary Baptist Church to the adult classes during the Sunday school hour and to the entire church at 11 a.m. Nadler, who grew up a Jewish kid on the streets of New York City, became a completed Jew when he accepted Jesus Christ and began a ministry of outreach to Jews and Gentiles soon thereafter. Nadler is speaker for Word of Messiah Ministries, headquartered in Charlotte.

Rhema Praise and Worship
SPENDER — On Sunday, April 26, Rhema Praise and Worship Church of Spencer will be honoring Pastor Alonza Williams Sr., and assistant Pastor Joyce Williams in the celebration of their fourth pastoral anniversary. The 11:15 a.m. speaker is Minister Patrick Jones Jr. of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Bear Poplar. Pastor Rickey Johnson of Antioch Baptist Church in Granite Quarry will speak at 3:30 p.m.
Mt. Vernon Presbyterian
WOODLEAF — The annual usher board program at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church is Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. The program speaker will be Dr. Willie Mae Able, assistant professor of nursing at the University of North Carolina -Charlotte. Survivors of breast cancer will be honored during the program and those who have lost their battle to cancer will be remembered.
The program will also feature a Parade of Hats. Refreshments will be served prior to the program. Dr. Emery Rann is the pastor of Mt. Vernon which is located on Carson Road.
Blessing of God Ministry
LEXINGTON — Senior Pastor Patrick Jones of Salisbury’s New Zion Missionary Baptist Church will be rendering service at 3 p.m. on Sunday at The Blessing of God Ministry, 412 Westside Drive in Lexington.
Erwin Temple’s 89th anniversary
Erwin Temple CME Church will observe its 89th church anniversary Sunday with a special celebration. The morning message will be given by the pastor, Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr. The Mass Choir will render music. Lunch will be served beginning at 1:30.
Afternoon worship will begin at 3 p.m. Pastor Rodney Barker of Refuge Community Church of Cooleemee will be guest speaker. Their choir will provide gospel singing during the worship.
Erwin Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church was organized in December 1926 when Rev. J.S. Miller of Ashville was assigned by the CME Conference to organize a mission for the people living in the Cooleemee community. The original structure was completed in 1929. Under the leadership of Rev. Calvin Smith who was assigned as pastor in July 1992, a new church was built in its current location. The Rev Ervin L. Hannah Jr. was assigned as pastor in July 2006 and presently serving as pastor of Erwin Temple.
Pre-Anniversary Service at Mt. Calvary Holy Church
Mt. Calvary Holy Church, 1400 Standish St., will host a pre-anniversary service on Sunday, April 26 at 4 p.m. The guest speaker will be Bishop Robert Melton, Gates of Zion in Midway.

Franklin Presybterian
The Saint James Male chorus will perform at Franklin Presbyterian Church on Sunday at 6 p.m. with a program of gospel music. The choir is composed of approximately 30 men from various churches in Mecklenburg County. The group started about 50 years ago and is known throughout the region. This is a free concert. The church is at 280 Franklin Church Drive at 601 and West Ridge Road.

World of Faith Outreach Ministries
World of Faith Outreach Ministries will be celebrating Pastor Kimberly Bost’s 22nd anniversary with an appreciation service on Thursday, April 30. Pastor Kellam will be the speaker at 7 p.m. On Friday, May 1 at 7 p.m., Overseer Buyers will speak and on Sunday, May 3 Evangelist Rhonda Horton is the guest speaker, at 4 p.m.
Gethsemane Missionary Baptist
The music ministry of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church is hosting a worship music workshop on Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for adults. The session for youth will begin at noon. There will be a registration fee of $10. A continental breakfast and lunch will be served.
Rev. Jermaine Smith will be the workshop facilitator. Rev. Smith serves as an associate minister and minister of music of Greater Galilee Baptist Church in Charlotte and is also the minister of music and arts ministries at First Baptist Church of Kannapolis. Rev. Smith is also the founder and leader of the newly formed Cabarrus Music and Arts Ministries trains, equips, empowers and mobilizes leaders in praise, worship, music and arts.

Women’s Day at Rose of Sharon

Movie at Kirkwood
KANNAPOLIS — Kirkwood Presbyterian Church features Christian movies on the first Saturday of each month. On Saturday, May 2 at 6 p.m. see “Second Hand Lions” with Robert Duvall and Michael Caine.
