Blotter: Kannapolis pair faces heroin charges

A Kannapolis pair is facing heroin trafficking charges.

Shana Ashley Byrum, 29, and Ernest Jerome Mason, 32, – both of the 400 block of Village Park Road in Kannapolis – were discovered with somewhere between four and 14 grams of heroin.

Byrum was charged with felony heroin trafficking; two counts misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia for having five syringes, one spoon and a blue pill grinder; misdemeanor simple possession of a schedule II controlled substance for having five 30-milligram and seven 20-milligram oxycodone tablets and misdemeanor simple possession of a schedule IV controlled substance for having two one-milligram clonazepam tablets, three half-milligram alzprazolam tablets and half a two-milligram tablet of alzprazolam.

She was issued a $50,000 bond.

Mason was charged with possession of heroin with intent to sell, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. He had three digital scales and a pocketknife with heroin residue on them.

Mason was issued a $150,000 bond.

In other arrest reports:

  • Keyon Jamar Reese, 30, of the 100 block of Rowan Mills Road, was charged with misdemeanor assaulting a female. Arrest reports say he shoved the woman into a hallway, beat her head in the wall and slapped her in the face with his open hand. Bond has not been determined as of Sunday.

 

  • Christopher Wade McDaniel, 36, of the 1500 block of Second Street, was charged with driving while impaired and misdemeanor simple possession of a schedule II controlled substance. Reports say McDaniel crossed the center line, ran off the road and struck a service pole on Crosby Street around 9 a.m. Thursday. Law enforcement discovered seven dosage units of 10-milligram methadone. He was issued a $2,500 bond.

 

  • Pierce VonPeeler, 23, of the 800 block of Sides Road was charged with resisting a public officer after he hid from a sheriff’s deputy under a foldout couch.

Deputy Poole was serving a warrant for VonPeeler for a hit and run in which he left scrapes and dents on the side of a 2000 Toyota in Rockwell, totaling more than $1,000 in damage Saturday. VonPeeler was issued a $2,500 bond.

 

  • Jason Michael Riddle, 34, of the 100-block of Yates Road was charged with resisting a public officer and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia Sunday.

He fled from sheriff’s deputies on foot when they stopped him to investigate his vehicle. He’s being held on a $1,500 bond.
