Rowan weather: A little break from rain Saturday
Published 8:00 am Friday, April 17, 2015
With drizzle and cool temperatures this morning, it seems like a repeat of the last three days. The chance of precipitation is just 20 percent, but thunderstorms are possible after 3 p.m. It will be cloudy again, with a high near 74. There’s a chance that this afternoon’s thunderstorms will include heavy downpours and cloud-to-ground lightning.
Tonight we still have a 20 percent chance of rain, mainly before 9 p.m., then some patchy fog, with a low of 56. Maybe it won’t be enough to put a damper on the Earth Day Jam.
Saturday should be a good day to jam, with sunny skies and a high near 80. There will be a slight breeze from the north northwest. Then, back comes the 20 percent chance of showers, but not until the wee hours, with a low of 60.
Sunday, there’s an 80 percent chance of heavy rain with a warm front moving through the area. With soil already very wet, there is a chance of heavy runoff or localized flash flooding. Thunderstorms are possible after 3 p.m. with a high of 69. Chance of rain and thunderstorms overnight is 90 percent, with a low of 61.
Again on Monday, a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is in the forecast, especially for the early evening hours. Mostly cloudy skies will bring a high of 78. The chance of rain goes down to 40 percent Monday night, with a low of 55.
Right now, Tuesday looks mostly sunny, with a high of 73 and a low of 49.
Wednesday’s supposed to be sunny, too, with a high near 72 and a low of 49 again.
And Thursday could be mostly sunny with a high near 73.
Just wait and see what happens, and keep rain boots handy for the weekend.
