National Day of Prayer China Grove
China Grove — The National Day of Prayer Service for the Town of China Grove will be Thursday, May 7, from noon to 1 p.m., at the gazebo at Hannah Park on Main St.
The South Rowan Ministerial Association, under the leadership of the Rev. Steve Wilson, is sponsoring the event.
Coordinated by the Rev. Joyce Miles, the service will follow the 2015 theme of “Lord, Hear Our Cry!”
Churches from across the area will be represented on the program which will include the Blowing of the Shofar as call to worship by the Rev. Bill Connelly and the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag by Police Chief Eddie M. Kluttz.
Thee will be prayers of praise and thanksgiving by the Rev. Ken Reed; prayers for military personnel by the Rev. Michael Oney; prayers for law enforcement by the Rev. Mark Murphy; prayers for children and families by the Rev. Tony Wagoner; prayers for prisoners and families by the Rev. James Byers; prayers for revival in our land by the Rev. Steve Wilson; prayers for the peace of Jerusalem by Rabbi Yossi Wentz; and the 2015 national prayer led by the Rev. Mark Burns.
Music will be interspersed throughout the program.
National Day of Prayer Cleveland
Cleveland — The Youth Department of the Salisbury District Christian Education Department invites the community to gather at Third Creek AME Zion Church 415 E. Main St., on Thursday, May 7, from 6 until 7 p.m. for the National Day of Prayer, remembering our nation, our families, churches, education, businesses, media, government (federal, state, local), and military.
Christal M. McRae is youth director of Christian education, Jeanette Rankin is Salisbury District director of Christian education and the Rev. Dr. Grant Harrison Jr. is Presiding Elder of the Salisbury District of the AME Zion Church.
Stallings Memorial Baptist Church
Stallings Memorial Baptist Cburch is hosting a car wash and fundraiser today beginning at 8 a.m.
On Thursday, May 7 at noon, in observation of National Day of Prayer, there will be music and singing of the national anthem in the courtyard, followed by prayers for our country and leaders. Prayers will be led by Chestnut Hill Community pastors. We will meet rain or shine.
Following the service is a complimentary hotdog lunch.
St. Luke Baptist fundraiser today
St. Luke Baptist Church on Hawkinstown Road youth department is hosting a fundraiser today from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. selling chicken and fish dinners and sandwiches. The Rev. Arthur Heggins is pastor.
Men’s Chorus to present 20th annual concert
The St. John’s Men’s Chorus will present its 20th annual concert, “A Jubilant Song!” at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 3, in the sanctuary of St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St.
The chorus is led by Rosemary C. Kinard, and accompanied by Janie R. Rollins. The St. John’s Classic Ringers handbells and the Inner Voices, a small auditioned ensemble, will also perform. An offering will benefit Community Care Clinic. Over the years, this group has raised more than $50,000 for local charities.
The event is free, the public is invited and a nursery will be provided.
The Rev. Rhodes Woolly is senior pastor, and Rob Durocher is minister of music.
Paws for Celebration
KANNAPOLIS — Today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Paws for Celebration takes place at Memorial United Methodist Church, 1100 W. C St.
Pet blessings are at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and the K-9 demo at noon will be conducted by Central Piedmont Search & Rescue.
There will be food concessions, free popcorn, free face painting, a bouncy house, a raffle drawing and live music. Proceeds from the raffle go to the non-profit rescue organizations at the event.

Worship Conference 2015 continues
KANNAPOLIS — The worship conference hosted by Bishop Tony Hall and Conquerors Shield of Faith International, 416 Rose Ave., continues today at 5 p.m. with Minister Derrick Bull and Remnant, LaRue Howard, April Hall and Sarrika Butler.
On Sunday, the 10:30 a.m. praise and worship will featuring LaRue Howard, and there will be a concert featuring Howard, with Joslyn Blackburn opening, at 4 p.m.

‘Celebrate Recovery’ at Trading Ford
The Celebrate Recovery ministry at Trading Ford Baptist Church will celebrate its 9th anniversary this weekend. A testimony and special music will be shared during the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.
On Tuesday, May 5, the ministry will host a covered dish meal followed by a worship celebration. There will be testimonies, and the worship team of Jon and Kandee Luckadoo, Julie Bowles and Matt Burt will lead special music. Afterward, there will be a time of fun and fellowship.
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered ministry for persons struggling with any kind of hurt, habit, or hang-up — abuse, codependency, grief, anger, divorce, addictions of any type.

The associate pastors and congregation at Macedonia Missionary Baptist church of Salisbury host the Usher Board’s anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Alice H. Perry, pastor of The Vineyard Worship Center, Salisbury.
Gethsemane Missionary Baptist
The Music Ministry of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Caldwell St., will present a concert Sunday at 5 p.m.
The concert will be the finished product of a worship music workshop attended by the music ministry of Gethsemane and participants of area churches which include members of the Cabarrus Music and Arts Ministries.
The concert is under the direction of the Rev. Jamaine Smith, founder and leader of the Cabarrus Music and Arts Ministries, minister of music of First Baptist Church, Kannapolis and Galilee Baptist Church, Charlotte.

The Gospel Four at The Building
CLEVELAND — The Amazing Gospel Four is the memorial program for Daddy Wee and Mama Doris to be held Sunday at The Building in Cleveland, featuring the Messengers for Christ of Cleveland, the Echoes for Christ from Salisbury and Redemption of the Carolinas. Doors open at 3 and the program starts at 4 p.m.
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Chestnut Hill
On Sunday, St. Paul’s Episcopal welcomes Dianne Hundley, chair of the Board for Rowan Helping Ministries, who will make a presentation in the parish hall on RHM’s programs and present needs following the 10:30 a.m. service.
Afterward, a light luncheon will be served on behalf of Ms. Hundley.

Strings of Victory
Strings of Victory announces the release of their latest CD, “Light in the Window” on May 7 in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer.
The occasion will also mark the launch of the Light in the Window Prayer Ministry, a new interactive program in which The Strings will invite participants to place a light in their window to remind them and their neighbors to pray for our nation. Participants will be able to snap a photo of their light in the window and post it on social media and forward it for posting on the Strings of Victory website.
Strings of Victory is a North Carolina-based bluegrass gospel group that travels throughout the southeast and has been featured in CBS Charlotte’s “Best Bluegrass Bands.”
New Beginning Church of God
