Neta Monroe: Stop beating the rock

While back home visiting, our Pastor from our home church was teaching on the passage of scripture where Moses was told to speak to the rock when the people were murmuring about having no water. In previous passages, God had told Moses to strike the rock and water flowed forth, then when the situation came up again, God told Moses to speak to the rock. But, Moses in his aggravation decided to strike the rock.
How many know that the rock in these passages are a picture of Jesus. Jesus only had to die once and for all for all curses. Now when we need something we don’t put Him back on the cross and beat Him again, no we have His word and we use His word and speak His word to our situation. Or at least that is the way it should be, however sometimes instead of going to His word, we beat the rock, we complain and murmur and whine about our situation the way the people did when Moses was bringing them out of Egypt and things didn’t go just exactly the way they thought it should.
When we try to take care of things on our own and not seek God first and His wisdom in our situation and see how He tells us to deal with our problem through His word, then we are in essence beating the Rock again. Jesus has already taken care of whatever the enemy might try to throw at you, so go to His word and speak what God says about it. Speak don’t beat.
This is what the Spirit showed me while Pastor Sam was preaching on this. “When we beat the rock we are self centered, when we speak to the situation we are Christ centered.”
Remember turn your situation around by speaking God’s word over your problem.
