St. James Episcopal fundraiser today
MOORESVILLE — St. James Episcopal Church, 851 Shinn Road, will hold a hotdog cookout today from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. or until gone. Adult meal $6; half off the price for medical, emergency, police, highway patrol, firefighters and military with ID. There will also be a 50/50 drawing.
Hall’s Chapel Primitive Baptist event tonight
Hall’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, 611 E. Monroe St., will host “Harvest Ride for Jesus” tonight at 4 p.m. Speaker will be Elder Katie Crockett. Host pastor is Elder Richard L. Johnson.
Mother’s Day at Second Presbyterian
Mothers Day will be a day of joy at Second Presbyterian Church, 732 Lincolnton Road. The 11 a.m. Celebration of the Resurrection will feature guest organist Becky Lippard, followed by lunch in the fellowship hall.
Stephen Ministry at First Presbyterian
First Presbyterian Church Salisbury plans a special Sunday of Stephen Ministry Emphasis, lifting up the Stephen Ministers as they walk with others through the challenges of life. Traditional worship services will be held at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the sanctuary and a contemporary Life Center worship service at 8:50 a.m. in Lewis Hall.
Gethsemane hosts Rev. Joyce Evans
Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Caldwell St., celebrates Mother’s Day with guest speaker the Rev. Joyce Evans at the 10:30 a.m. service.
Rev. Evans is a native and resident of Fayetteville. She holds a bachelor of ministry degree from Bethany Divinity College and Seminar in Dothan, Ala.
Mt. Zion UCC holds service of candles
CHINA GROVE – During the 11 a.m. service Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, 1415 S. Main St., will observe Mother’s Day with a service of candles — a red candle for mothers who are still living, a white candle for mothers who from their labors rest, and a pink candle to celebrate the women of the Mt. Zion Church family who are like a mother to us. The children’s choir will sing, and youth fellowship is at 4:30 p.m.

Bud Belk will present a program of southern gospel/church music. He is a resident of Charlotte and the past 18 years has sung his baritone voice ministry at churches, nursing homes and other venues. Rose Hill Women’s Ministry outreach
