  Top-seeded host North Georgia beat Catawba 6-1 on Saturday and advanced to the Southeast Regional I championship game.

North Georgia is 46-7, while Catawba is 31-16.

Natalie Naturile homered for Catawba’s lone run, and Gina Gerone had two hits. Carley Tysinger (27-10) took the loss and struck out five.

• Tysinger bounced back  in Catawba’s second game on Saturday — a  4-0 win over Anderson in an elimination game. She pitched a three-hitter for her 10th shutout of the season..

Caroline Turner hit a big homer for the Indians. Naturile had three hits. Gerone and Holli Chandler had two each.

Catawba has to beat  North Georgia twice on Sunday to advance.

Tysinger matched Lindsay Ettinger’s school record with her 27th win.

College baseball

Noah Holmes (East Rowan) had two hits for Appalachian State in a 5-2 win against UT-Arlington on Friday.

• D-II Southeast Regional baseball pairings will be released on Sunday night.

NCHSAA

Baseball, softball and soccer playoff pairings will be released on Monday.

Prep track

Winston-Salem Parkland’s girls and Mallard Creek’s boys won 4A state championships on Saturday in Greensboro.

A.L. Brown’s scored three points. Kellen Corson  placed seventh in the 800 in 1:58.17. The Wonders’ 4×100 team finished eighth.

Prep golf

The NCHSAA boys golf championships will be played at four different sites across the state on Monday and Tuesday.

The 30th annual 3A event is scheduled for the Longleaf Golf and Country Club in Southern Pines. East Rowan’s team and South Rowan’s Davis Richards will competing in the 3A event.

The top three teams from each of the regionals along with the top three individuals not on one of the qualifying teams earned spots in the 36-hole  championships.

The first threesomes will go off at 8 a.m.  on each of the two days of the tournament in all but the 4A classification.

Prep track

In the 2A Midwest Regional at Monroe, North Rowan’s girls scored 78 points and placed second to the host team(83).

Salisbury was 10th.

Leading Salisbury was Jaleesa Smoot. She was first in the 100 (12.28 seconds), first in the 400 (57.57 seconds) and second in the 200 (26.09).

Leading North Rowan was Brianna White. She was second in the 100 hurdles (15.90),  first in the 300 hurdles (47.58) and first in the high jump (5 feet).

North Rowan’s Payton Russell was first in the 200 (25.89) and second in the 400 (58.00). Chevy Blaire took second in the shot put for the Cavaliers (35-10). North Rowan won the 4×400 in 4:16.

Top-four finishers qualified for the state meet.

Boys

North Rowan’s boys finished 11th in team scoring, while Salisbury was 13th.

300 hurdles — 4th Phennessy Burts, North Rowan 43.05

Discus — 3rd Shane Parker, 127-7

High jump — 3rd, Michael Streater, North Rowan, 6-0

Shot put — 2nd, Shane Parker, North Rowan 48-00; 3rd D.J. Alexander, Salisbury 46-4.25

NC Sports Hall

Inductions are Thursday in Raleigh for the 309-member  North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.

Inductees will be   Jeff Bostic (pro football),  Joe Bostic (pro football),  John Clougherty (basketball referee), Freddie Combs (N.C. State baseball), Rick Hendrick (motorsports), Gene Littles (pro basketball). Jerry McGee (Duke football), Lenox Rawlings (sportswriter), Charlotte Smith (UNC women’s basketball) and Andrea Stinson (N.C. State women’s basketball).

Mid. school track

Erwin’s teams swept the   conference track meets.

Erwin’s boys edged Mooresville and West Rowan.

Erwin’s girls won, with Mooresville second and West Rowan third.

Top-six finishers and winning marks or times for boys were listed in Saturday’s edition. Girls are in today’s edition.

Youth soccer

The U11 FCCA Green Dragons won the King of the Hill Tournament in Boone with a 2-1 victory over the Tennessee Tornadoes.

The championship match was highlighted by two goals from Bennett Clark and outstanding goalkeeping from Nick Antosek.

Clark had four goals in the tournament. Maddox Goodnight scored three, and Oscar Enciso, Colin Donaldson and Luis Avilez had one each.

Outstanding performances were recorded by Ben Childress, Wade Robins, Reed Brixey, Ben Sweet and Christopher Portillo.

Intimidators

The Kananpolis Intimidators for eight runs in the ninth and won 13-8 at Lexington on Saturday.

Kannapolis (12-16) trailed the Legends 8-5 heading into the final inning.

Eddy Alvarez hit a three-run home run (2) to cap the big inning, finishing the night 3-for-4 with career-highs five RBI and four runs scored.
