Semper High: Military aircraft take flight

I recently had the chance to spend the weekend at MCAS Cherry Point in Havelock with my uncle for its weekend air show.
But it was more than airpower on display — the event also showed the might of the Marines on the ground and sea.
The aerial part was the main focus of the show, but there were plenty of displays on the ground to behold. From heavy armor to support equipment, just about every type of Marine equipment was on display.
If you ever doubt your patriotism, just attend a military function like an air show, and talk with the men and women who bravely serve our country. It didn’t matter if you talked with a private or a major who is a pilot, they were equally willing to talk with you and share what they do. Listening to a Navy SEAL, an Osprey pilot or a Marine recon soldier could give you chills.
Let us never take our military for granted. We always need to support our service members and keep them in our prayers. I can’t tell you how many times that weekend I shook hands with members of our military and expressed my appreciation for the job they do. Saying thank you to a soldier never gets old.
