Business Roundup: Silverman Group expanding in Concord business park

CONCORD — The Silverman Group plans to construct a 108,000-square foot speculative building with a projected investment of approximately $7 million. The flex building will be located on a 12-acre parcel on Aviation Boulevard near the Concord Regional Airport. The flex space will feature a 32’ clear height and can be subdivided.
The Silverman Group has already constructed two spec buildings, totaling 552,000 square feet, in the Concord Airport Business Park. They recently purchased another 136 acres on Derita Road for future development. The company built the facility that houses the Amazon distribution center.
“We are pleased to continue our successful partnership with the city of Concord, Cabarrus County and Cabarrus Economic Development. The support from the community is important to our collective success in bringing industry and jobs to the area,” Blake Silverman said. “We believe there is demand for higher end building product, with enhanced exterior finishes.”

The North Carolina Medical Group Management Association has named Sandra Jarrett 2015 Administrator of the Year
Jarrett, practice manager for Salisbury Orthopaedic Associates, was honored at the group’s 2015 spring conference, held May 13-15 in Myrtle Beach.
Jarrett has been the practice manager at Salisbury Orthopaedic Associates since 2013. Under her direction the practice continues to earn high monthly Press Ganey survey scores.

The award honors a medical practice administrator who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and management proficiency, and who has helped enhance the effectiveness of health care delivery in North Carolina. Sponsored by Medical Mutual Insurance Company, the award also provides the recipient with a stipend for continuing education at a state or national Medical Group Management Association meeting.
Jarrett is a long-time member of the NCMGMA. She is the chair of the Medicaid Committee, a past member of the Worker’s Compensation Committee and a regular participant in the NCMGMA’s Legislative Days and the North Carolina Medical Society’s White Coat Wednesday, where delegates from across the state meet with North Carolina law makers to address their health care industry needs and concerns.
Realtors will discuss flipping houses
The Rowan Real Estate Investors and Associates will meet on Tuesday. The topic of this month’s presentation is “how to earn profits flipping houses.”
The group is moving their location of the meeting to Ryan’s Steakhouse on Jake Alexander Boulevard. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. but feel free to come early and enjoy dinner with other investors.
The purpose of the group is to provide information regarding real estate investing in Rowan County.

Low income apartments opening
Sterling Trace Apartments, adjacent to the Salisbury Village at Castlewood off Jake Alexander Boulevard, is now leasing.
PIRHL Southeast in partnership with the Creative Development Group developed the 80-unit apartment development for families earning at or below 60 percent of the area’s median income. The project consists of two- and three-bedroom units along with a multi-purpose/game room, exercise room, computer center, playground, covered picnic area, gazebo and outdoor seating area.

FastMed bought by private equity firm
BOSTON, MASS. — ABRY Partners, a private equity firm, has entered into an agreement to acquire FastMed Urgent Care, the second largest independent urgent care organization in the U.S. and the largest network in both North Carolina and Arizona. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of this year.
FastMed has a location in Wallace Commons on Klumac Road in Salisbury.
Comprised of a network of board-certified physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners operating across two states, FastMed Urgent Care provides urgent care services throughout North Carolina and Arizona. FastMed focuses on the delivery of non-appointment based medicine to the non-emergency patient market through its urgent care centers that are open 365 days a year.
The acquisition includes FastMed’s 87 clinics throughout North Carolina and Arizona, and also includes the company’s corporate headquarters in Raleigh and regional headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona.
FastMed employs more than 1,100 individuals across both markets.
