Press Release

Citadel of Faith Christian Fellowship (CFCF) and the Martin Luther King Social Action Committee (MLK-SAC) invites you to become a sponsor by supporting our walker (Bishop George B. Jackson) in a 273 mile walk from Belhaven, NC to Washington, DC. This is a bipartisan, grassroots movement to petition Congress to pass measures to ensure the sustainability of rural hospitals in America. The Walk will begin on June 1, 2015, in the coastal community of Belhaven, NC and end June 15, 2015, at the US Senate lawn in Washington, DC. Rural healthcare is a matter of life and death. Many people die when the golden hour (first hour after heart attack or stroke) is exhausted and they must drive 40, 50 or 60 miles to get to an emergency room. This is truly a matter of life and death and we need your voice and support.

Dr. Jackson met Mayor Adam O’Neal (Belhaven, NC) at the Historic Thousands March on Raleigh (HKonJ) in February 2015 and agreed to be part of The Walk. MLK-SAC rallies and supports social action for social change in our communities even when the community is over 200 miles away. The Walk from NC to DC is a 14 day, 20 mile per day march. The Walk continues a national debate about the condition of rural hospitals today and how their closings will affect our tomorrow. Please support this walk and help us build the beloved community.
