Business Roundup: Recycling service expanding, adding garbage pickup

Matangira Curbside Recycling, a Christian-based company, has announced a 200 percent revenue expansion in 2015 by adding waste pickup and is now named Matangira Business Recycling and Garbage Disposal Services. By rebranding efforts and input from many people, owners/operators Daniel and Nicole Matangira took their operations added “waste” to their business services. In 2011, they started out with one service truck and now have four.
Matangira’s local accounts serve a variety of businesses: Al Cancia, Cardinal Tire, First Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Gamewell Mechanical, Go Burrito, Hampton Inn, Hitachi Metals, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Salisbury Pediatrics, Team Chevrolet, The Forum, Trinity Oaks and many more. Matangira also hires locally and uses local vendors.
Daniel is originally from a small village in Zimbabwe. He and his orphan brothers started a nonprofit organization, Mushayamunda Christian Development Foundation, to help orphans and widows whose life has been changed by poor health conditions such as AIDS and poverty. Matangira business profits support the village’s clean drinking water, development of irrigation and gardening projects and basic living and food essentials.

Novant Health has new office in south Rowan
CHINA GROVE — Novant Health will have the grand opening of its new medical office Monday. A ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. at the office located at 1965 S. U.S. 29. Tours will be provided.
Novant Health Primary Care South Rowan and Novant Health Carolina Women’s Health Associates are relocating to the new building. Both clinics are adding providers and extending hours to meet the needs of patients in China Grove.
Horse riding program in June
WOODLEAF — Pantheon Acres Arabian Farm is planning a Lesson Program Kick-Off Party on June 13 at the farm from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The farm has partnered with Justyn Stahr and Sarah Todd of Souther Star Performance Horses and will be offering riding lessons in both English and Western.
The Kick -Off is a chance for the public to come in and learn about lessons and get a chance to meet the lesson horses and Miss Sarah. The Horsin Around 4-H Club will be on hand to answer any questions families may have about getting involved in the Rowan County 4-H Program. There will also be a demo by the established students at 1 p.m.
Emma’s earns award for excellence
Emma’s of Salisbury, is a popular restaurant on South Lee Street owned and operated by Allen Terry has earned a 2015 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.
TripAdvisor is a travel website company that provides reviews of travel-related content — hotels, restaurants and destinations. The Certificate of Excellence is awarded to businesses and destinations that consistently receive great reviews.
Computer service makes changes
SCS Service of Salisbury, a computer support service, has new owners, Christine and David Laikind, who took over in November.
Under the new ownership, the company has introduced a new logo, website, new products and services. The company will stay at 1017 Old West Innes St., where it has been for six years. SCS Service has retained all of its employees.
SCS Service provides computer repair and support services. Staff can repair desktops and laptops remotely, and in the shop. The hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The most popular on site computer repair service is virus and spyware removal.

Volvo opens plant in Davie County
DAVIE COUNTY — The Volvo Group invested $2.6 million into the renovation of the 210,000 square-foot Dex building located at 2016 Cornatzer Road in Advance and created 38 new jobs in Davie County. The building is located on 38 acres near Interstate 40.
Dex, a Volvo Group subsidiary and leading supplier of recycled, renovated and surplus medium- and heavy-duty truck parts, offers new life to trucks by offering recycled and renovated parts to second- and third-generation truck owners.
The Dex operation relocated to Davie County from Floyd, Virginia, last August. They moved to Davie County for close-in access to major Interstate Highways I-40, I-77 and I-85, access to an educated workforce, and the ability to “recycle” an existing textile manufacturing plant to a new life.
In 2009, Volvo’s Mack Truck headquarters was moved from Allentown, Pennsylvania, to Greensboro, – creating some 500 new jobs.
Dermatology group acquires Salisbury office
Concord-based Dermatology Group of the Carolinas has announced the addition of a Salisbury office with the acquisition of Salisbury Dermatology at 203-B Mocksville Ave.. With this acquisition, Dermatology Group of the Carolinas gains the expertise of Dr. Philip Eaton, who previously practiced with Salisbury Dermatology.

Jeanne Dennis, who has been a customer service representative for 13 years at Quick Copy Print, and who has 41 years of experience in the graphic arts industry, has been named customer service manager. Bill Northwood, who has worked in the offset printing area of Quick Copy Print for 16 years and has 31 years experience in printing, has been named production manager. Mylisa Phillips, who has been Quick Copy Print’s business manager for the past nine years, will be the third member of the new management team.
