Grace Lutheran Church recognizes graduates with scholarships

In order to qualify for the Grace Lutheran Church Scholarships, students must be a member of the church, a first-year college student, participate in the worship, fellowship and programs of the congregation and have tuition expense.

The first recipient is Aaron Lippard, a graduate of Carson High School. He is the son of Lynn and Angela Lippard, and will attend N.C. State University and study mechanical engineering.

The second recipient, Rachael Moore, is also a Carson High School graduate. The daughter of Shannon Moore and David Moore, she will attend Appalachian State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Audra Benson, daughter of Scottie and Bonnie Benson, is a West Rowan High School graduate, and will attend Clemson University. She plans to work toward a doctorate degree in pediatric physical therapy.

The applicants’ servant profiles included: worship service assistant, hand bell choir, youth choir and participation in youth group, youth retreat planning, and participant at National Youth convention. Some attended Lutheridge or Lutherock and volunteered in Witness of Grace and Kids of Grace. Many young people visited shut-ins, helped in the 2-4 year old Sunday school class and the nursery, served homeless shelter residents, assisted in vacation Bible school and volunteered at church workdays and fundraising events.
