Blotter: Pair charged with marijuana possession, child abuse

Police say a Salisbury pair were charged with marijuana possession and child abuse after officers served a search warrant at an East Cemetery Street home.

Arvilee Renee Gaither, 27, of the 600 block of East Cemetery Street, and Bruce Junior Robinson, 33, of the 300 block of South Craige Street, were both charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor child abuse.

Robinson was additionally charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon. He has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center under a $20,000. Gaither has since been released from the county jail under a $5,000 secured bond.

Police officers with the narcotics unit had previously bought drugs from the East Cemetery Street home during undercover operations. The warrant was served Tuesday where officers found 2.5 grams of marijuana, a Taurus 38 caliber pistol, some plastic bags, one of which contained a digital scale, a marijuana grinder, a digital scale in an oatmeal box in the kitchen. The gun was found in a bedroom.

There were three children in the home — a 3-year-old, 8-year-old and a 2-month-old.

• A man reported on Tuesday someone stole items from an outbuilding in the 200 block of Johnson Dairy Road, Rockwell.

• A woman reported on Tuesday she was the victim of an assault in the 100 block of Airport Road, Kannapolis.

• A woman reported on Tuesday a breaking and entering occurred in the 100 block of Overbrook Road.

• Jesse Ray Rollins, 24, was charged on Tuesday with felony manufacturing a controlled substance scheduled VI while at the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office.

• Michelle Irene Sterner, 19, was charged on Tuesday with misdemeanor marijuana possession while at the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office.

• Josue Saul Nunez, 22, was charged on Tuesday with misdemeanor simple assault in the 1000 block of Bringle Ferry Road.

• Terry Leapo Walker, 65, was charged on Tuesday with misdemeanor assault on a female in the 100 block of Airport Road, Kannapolis.

• Kristin Michelle Niehoff, 25, was charged on Tuesday with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance schedule II in the 200 block of Lillian Circle.
