Small won a gold medal in the Under 18 high jump at the Down Under Championships in Australia last week. Small jumped 5 feet, 4 inches in competing against athletes from throughout the world.
Small, a rising junior, finished second in the state 3A championship meet last year, jumping 5-6. She was also an all-county volleyball player for the Mustangs.
