The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education will continue its 2015-16 fiscal year budget discussions during its business meeting Tuesday.
Chief Financial Officer Tara Trexler will discuss how the proposed state budgets could impact the district’s finances and programming.
She will also give an in-depth explanation of the district’s digital device user fees. This is the result of a discussion the board had about the fees earlier this month.
The board will decide whether it wants to interview Mark Henriques of Womble Caryle in Charlotte for the board attorney position. Henriques’ packet was separated from the rest of the applicants’ packets. The firm has served as Cabarrus County’s board attorney for more than 20 years.
The board will also discuss the memorandum of understanding for school resource officers and discuss whether or not to pre-assign two small school-choice zones.
The consent agenda includes minutes from the board’s May 26 and June 8 meetings; a budget amendment for the month of May; a financial summary; a memorandum of agreement with Rowan-Cabarrus Community College concerning Rowan County Early College; surplus mobile units; new high school course offerings; second read and approval of policies concerning school trips, employee dress and leave and an architectural contract with SFL+A for a consolidated elementary school in the western part of the county.
The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education will meet Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the district’s administrative offices, 110 S. Long Street in East Spencer.
The board will not hold a work session or business meeting in July.
