GRANITE QUARRY — The Board of Aldermen is expected to schedule an open house for residents to see the town’s new fire truck later this month.

The long-awaited truck arrived in Granite Quarry June 25.

Aldermen will meet for their July monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Town Hall, 143 N. Salisbury Ave.

In other items on its agenda, the board:

• Will hear from Bill Key, a representative of the N.C. Department of Transportation, on street repairs.

• Will review the town’s policy for collecting leaves and limbs.

• Will look to enter an agreement on property to be used for the temporary storage of limbs and leaves. Two properties are under consideration.

• Will discuss a zoning case related to property at South Cleo Avenue and Brinkley Street.

• Will hear updates on retail development, an urban archery ordinance, Granite Quarry addresses, privilege licenses, waterline funding, sidewalks, revitalization and parks.

• Will recognize the Granite Quarry Civitan Club for its support in purchasing body cameras for police officers.

• Will introduce Jonathan McCaskill as a new full-time firefighter.
